Rod of Instant Pillars
This rod looks like a miniature stone pillar. You can use an action to set it down in an unoccupied space on solid ground within 5 feet of you and speak its command word. The rod then expands upward, creating a vertical pillar made of stone in that space. The pillar is a 5-foot-diameter cylinder and grows upward to fill the available space, up to 20 feet tall. Regardless of its size, it always weighs 500 pounds while in its pillar form. A creature can use an action to make a DC 20 Strength check, moving the pillar on a success. If the pillar is moved in any way, it magically returns to its normal rod form.
The pillar remains until it's moved. When you speak the rod's command word, you can choose the style, color, and apparent quality of the pillar it creates.
The study was a magnificent space. Books and various trophies filled the shelves, almost enshrining the lacquered desk at their center, and a warm fire in the hearth cast a welcoming glow. An elaborate pillar at the center of the room held the domed ceiling aloft. The space was, as Master Rockbreaker put it, a lovely room to enjoy his final years in. So it was all the more heartbreaking when burglars burst into the room to find the old master there enjoying a drink by the fire. Outnumbered and unarmed, he grimaced as he made a painful decision. Mustering all the strength his old muscles could give, the old veteran pushed the pillar in the center of the room enough to slide against the marble floor. The pillar vanished, clattering to the floor as a small scepter, and revealed a trapdoor below it. Already, the sound of cracking could be heard from above, and dust and debris began to bounce against the floor. In a single movement, the master grabbed the rod, his drink, and slipped below the trap door as the first chunk of the roof fell down. Inside was a torch, a lever to lock the study doors, and a narrow tunnel that led to safety. He pulled the lever, swallowed the rest of his drink, and took the torch in hand as he began to run. From behind him, he could hear the sounds of the collapsing rubble and room behind him—as well as the screams of those trapped within.
